The flame sensor is a vital part that can reliably detect the acceptable flame during the initial ignition of the furnace. As you could guess, if the sensor get triggered the gas valve is shut off and the system halts until the problem is fixed.
Symptoms of a poorly working Carrier flame sensor
- The furnace turns on intermittently when it thinks it should
- The furnace cannot begin working and produces an error code on the circuit board
- The gas entering the furnace finds it impossible to begin an ignition sequence and the main board displays on error code
