Carrier 48GP048130300 Cooling Fan Motor
The fan motor has a unique job of cooling the compressor, because as the compressor gets hot the heat energy has to be dispersed in order to keep things cool. Just make certain you buy a replacement motor with the same voltage and the same amps as it is on the bad motor. The unit may be replaced without the necessity of buying a fan blade too, this will reduce install time and it is something you can do yourself.
Key symptoms to watch for in a failing fan motor
- You hear a squeaking sound when the cooling fan is stopping
- The Carrier cooling motor cannot turn at all
- The compressor cooling motor starts to smoke or sparks while it is spinning
