A basic electrical transformer is used frequently in anything electrical which also includes your heating system as it converts a certain amount of electricity to a different voltage, 120V to 12V, for example. If you need a transformer, make sure to purchase on that is assessed for the right voltage value that is essential for the system to run properly. Transformers are all different and must adhere to strict volts and amps requirements.
What red flags are there that my electrical transformer is on its last leg?
- No volts evaluated leaving your transformer while tested with the unit on
- Transformer physically appears cracked or perhaps smokes while electricity is running through it
- Wrong voltage can be measured coming from the chief transformer
