Carrier 48XP048115300 Flame Sensor
The flame sensor is a contraption that will consistently detect the appropriate flame when the system starts. As with most devices used for safety reason, if the flame sensor senses a problem the furnace cannot start again for as long as it takes to remedy the problem.
How can I tell if my flame sensor is failing?
- Your system refuses to start when you crank the thermostat up
- The furnace kicks in on certain occasions at the stroke of midnight after the second full moon following the second Sunday of the month
- The type of gas you use refuses to properly ignite and closes the gas valve
