Carrier 48XPN024040300 Cooling Fan Motor
The fan motor on the compressor is responsible for cooling the compressor, because as the compressor gets hot the heat energy has to be dispersed in order to keep things cool. The motor can be replaced as a whole unit with the blade or by itself, which this tends to make installing it easier and it is something you can do yourself. Be sure the new motor has the correct voltage and the proper amount of amperage as on the current fan motor.
General indicators that your Carrier fan motor is dying
- The compressor cooling motor begins to smoke or throws sparks while it tries to spin
- A disturbing grinding noise when the cooling fan is just starting
- The Carrier motor tries but fails to turn at all
