Carrier 48XPN030060300 Limit Switch
The limit switch is a type of sensor switch located in the furnace that senses, or governs, if and when the air is warm enough for the main blower to kick in and circulate the air. One big reason why limit switches are designed that way is due to the fact that if the air never warms up inside the exchanger the you will lose heat in the ducts and the vents will just blow cool air.
Major clues of a poorly performing main limit switch
- System will not begin the ignition sequence or run as it should
- The system starts to become inconsistent on a regular basis
