Carrier 48XPN060115300 Thermistor
In an HVAC system, a thermistor is a specific kind of resistor whose rated resistance depends on the current temperature. The furnace or AC reads the temperature in a few critical areas to make sure everything is running smoothly. They tell the system control board when the temperature has been reached.
Major signs of a declining all-important thermister
- The heating and AC system could possibly not even begin because of the thermistor that is stuck open
- The blower may refuse in the attempt to get up to full speed
