Carrier 48XZ060130300 Cooling Fan Motor
The compressor fan motor has the main duty of cooling the outdoor compressor, because as the compressor gets hot the heat energy has to be dispelled into the air. Be sure you buy a replacement motor with the similar voltage and correct amp current as it is on the bad motor. The motor on the compressor fan can be replaced sans the blade, this will make it a lot easier to install and cheaper for you.
Simple warnings that your fan motor is in need of a replacement?
- An audible grating type sound when the cooling fan is stopping
- The Carrier motor tries but fails to turn the blade
- The motor begins to smoke or throws sparks while it tries to spin
