The control board is constructed to control everything including the gas valve, the ignition igniter, all the sensors and the blower all at once. Your system definitely will not run without the control board installed as it should be according to the manufacturer. The board you select should match the model number with both the make and model of the system you have installed. Be absolutely sure while searching to pick up a replacement control board because of the wide variety of models and types.
