The defrost sensor control board controls if and when to commence the defrosting phase which may be needed in order to continue normal heating and cooling operations. The defrost board is relayed information from a defrost sensor that can be found near the condenser, in order to ascertain when to initiate the defrosting cycle.
Symptoms the defrost sensor board is on its last leg
- The HVAC system control board might give out an error of some type when the defrost control board refuses to initialize properly
- Self defrost sequence refuses to initiate even though there is a lot of frost on the outdoor unit
- Most systems will stop working because of frost blocking the fins on the outside unit
