The defrost sensor control board determines when or if to start the defrost sequence in order to continue normal heating and cooling operations. The defrost sensor board looks to a defrost sensor which is near the condenser somewhere, in order to verify when to begin.
What are some indications that my defrost board is crapping out?
- The system will stop working due to the frost blocking the flow of air
- The HVAC system control board could display an error of some type referring to a failing defrost control board
- The defrost feature will not kick in even though there is excessive frost on the outdoor unit
