Most systems will not activate lest the circuit board is properly connected to the unit. The control board is constructed to operate everything including the gas valve, the ignition igniter, all the sensors as well as the air circulator all at once. A matching board will have a matching part number that will fit in both the brand and model of the system you have installed. You must do some research when you choose a replacement due to variances between models within certain brands.
Main clues your primary control board needs to be replaced
- Heat or AC unit will not go well
- System has a strange code being displayed somewhere on the board
- The system board has to be turned off and back on quite frequently for the heating or cooling to kick in
