The control board is constructed to direct the gas valve, the igniter, all the various sensors as well as the air circulator all at once. It is impossible for your furnace or air handler to even function without the control board in its proper place and configured for your unit. You must be sure upon choosing a board as a replacement due to so many small differences in HVAC systems. The proper control board will have a part number that will match both the make and model of your particular system.
