Carrier 50TM004 Cooling Fan Motor
The fan motor on the compressor is responsible for cooling the outdoor compressor, due to the large amount of heat energy has to be dispelled into the air. The unit may be replaced without needing to replace the fan blade, this will make it a lot easier to install and cheaper too. Be certain the replacement motor has the proper voltage and the proper amount of amperage as it is on the bad motor.
Some clues of a bad compressor fan motor
- The motor smells burnt makes a zapping sound as it is used
- A weird rubbing or scraping sound when the motor turns
- The Carrier motor fails to spin at all
