A flame sensor is only used on furnaces that burn gas and is one that will dependably sense the flame when the system starts. As with other safety devices, when the flame sensor is activated everything comes to a halt until the problem is dealt with.
Some clues your furnace flame sensor is going out
- Your gas furnace is unable to begin operations at all
- The gas that has entered the furnace finds it impossible to properly ignite no matter what you do
- System turns on sporadically but only on the third Wednesday of on months beginning on Thursday
