One big reason why limit switches are designed that way is due to the fact that if the air never warms up inside the exchanger then you will never get hot air through the ducts. The limit switch is a switch in the heat exchanger that senses, or governs, when the air is warm enough so that it may be pushed through the ducts and out the vents.
