Carrier 50XT-A36 Expansion Valve
The AC in a split system would not generate and cold air if the expansion valve was somehow damaged. Pretty much every air conditioning system has an expansion valve that permits the refrigerant to expand back into its natural vaporous form from a high pressure liquid state.
