A thermistor is a special kind of new age resistor that has a varied resistance that is altered by temperature at its location. The control board deciphers the temp in certain areas to do its job correctly. They tell the system control board when a certain temperature has been reached.
Some warnings the Carrier thermister should be replaced
- The heating and cooling system may not initiate the starting sequence due to a thermistor that is the problematic one
- The main blower fails in its attempt to engage full speed spinning
