The flame sensor is an important feature that can reliably detect the appropriate flame in accordance with the initial ignition sequence. Due to safety concerns, when the flame sensor is activated the furnace cannot start again until the problem is dealt with.
Simple indications poorly running flame sensor
- The gas supplying the furnace will not even try to properly ignite and the control shows an error
- The gas furnace cannot work whatsoever
- The heating system runs sometimes at midnight, but only after the new moon following the fourth Monday of the month

If you are going to be buying or ordering, do your due diligence and double check the model number as well as make a visual inspection so that you are positive that the proper replacement flame sensor is the one being purchased.
