A flame sensor can only be found on furnaces that burn a gas. It is a safety sensor that will reliable sense the proper flame in accordance with the initial ignition sequence. As with any other safety sensor, when the flame sensor is activated everything comes to a halt for as long as it takes to remedy the problem.
