The defrost control board will begin an important defrosting cycle in order to rid your unit of frost that can build up. It relies on a specific sensor located in the outdoor unit to make the decision on when to begin.
Some warnings your defrost board will eventually need to be replaced
- Defrost mode does not run even though there is quite a bit frost that has built up
- The HVAC system could cease to operate at all because of the safety issue that the frost poses
- The main circuit board could throw an error number referring to a bad defrost board
