Carrier 58CTA11010016 Cooling Fan Motor
The fan motor is responsible for keeping the compressor cool, this is needed because of the heat that needs to be discharged into the air outside. The unit may be replaced sans the blade, this makes replacing it a lot easier to do and cheaper for you. It is important that the replacement motor has the exact voltage as well as amperage as on the current fan motor.
Subtle cues to watch for in a failing compressor fan motor
- The main cooling motor smells burnt or throws sparks as it turns
- You hear a grating type sound when the cooling fan speeds up
- The Carrier cooling motor cannot turn at all
