The defrost sensor control board instructs the outdoor unit to begin the defrost cycle which may be necessary to remove frost build-up that may accumulate. The defrost sensor board looks to a temperature sensor located somewhere by the condenser to ascertain when the defrost cycle should begin.
Some clues your Carrier defrost sensor board will have to be replaced
- Self defrost sequence will not initiate despite that there is a large amount frost that has built up
- The system may not work due to the amount of frost on the outdoor unit
- The primary control board may signify an alphanumeric error code produced by a bad defrost control board
