In an HVAC system, a thermistor is a thermal resistor, that has a varied resistance that is dependent on the current temperature. The system control board reads the temperature in a few critical areas to understand what is going on. They convey to the circuit board when a temperature in increasing or decreasing.
Symptoms of an inadequate all-important thermister
- The system may not function depending on which is the stuck thermistor
- Primary blower could refuse in its attempt to ramp up to full speed
