It is recommended that the filter is changed every 90 days or so because the filter can get clogged and may result in poor air flow inside the house. The dimensions of the filter is not a choice that needs to be made but rather a requirement of your system. The main filter may filter out contaminants and other fine particles from the air handler.
Important clues of a poorly working primary air filter
- When you hold the filter up to the light, it cannot show on the other side a very dirty air filter
- The filter looks gross and could be replaced soon
- It is greatly suggested to switch out the air filter in your unit every 90 days in order to have clean air in the home
