Almost all AC systems have an expansion valve that lets the coolant to spread back into vapor form from its highly pressured liquid form. The AC in a split system can not supply your house with cold air if the expansion valve was broken.
Symptoms of an ineffective expansion valve
- Your AC takes its sweet time to appropriately cool as it should
