Also called a draft inducer, as a job it performs is to provide ample air draft for a much cleaner and much safer gas combustion. A draft inducer, or vent blower, is only one of many safety features on your system.The main furnace vent motor is intended to induce the movement of air and excess gas out of the furnace.
Major indications of a bad draft fan
- The draft inducer does not turn on during initial launch of the ignition sequence
- Main blower fails to start up
- Power is flowing to the draft fan motor but still no response from the motor
