Carrier 58MCA Flame Sensor
A flame sensor is only used on furnaces that burn gas and is one that will sense the exact flame upon ignition. As with other safety devices, if the flame sensor gets set off the whole HVAC system will remain stopped until the problem is dealt with.
Clues of an inadequate furnace flame sensor
- The gas furnace will not fire up at all
- The whole system starts rarely at midnight, but only after the new moon following the fourth Monday of the month
- Any type of gas that has entered the furnace finds it impossible to start an ignition sequence and shut down
