A basic electrical transformer is very common in many household goods which also includes your heating system as it is used to convert electrical output from 120V to 24V, for example. Transformers can have different specs and must adhere to strict electrical needs. If you need to replace one, be sure to replace it with one that is properly assessed for the correct voltage that is desired.
What are some hints that my converting transformer is dying?
- Voltage transformer looks melted or have a burning smell when it has electricity going through it
- Cycling voltages is found coming from the transformer
- Extremely low voltage calculated at the output of the HVAC transformer while using a voltmeter
