The defrost control board controls when to launch an important defrosting cycle if necessary, to keep the outdoor unit free from frost build-up. The board depends on a defrost sensor located near the condenser to verify when to initiate the defrosting cycle.
Signs of a defective outdoor defrost sensor board
- The control board may issue an error signal when the defrost control board refuses to initialize properly
- The system will end up not running for the fact of frost blocking the fins on the outside unit
- Self defrost sequence has not run for a while especially when there is frost on the unit
