Carrier 58MCB100 Flame Sensor
The flame sensor is a very important part of the safety feature set that can reliably detect the exact flame when the system starts. As with any other safety sensor, if the flame sensor is triggered the whole HVAC system will remain stopped until the problem is remedied and the system is reset.
Subtle hints the primary flame sensor is going to die
- The gas supplying the furnace will not properly ignite and some type of error flashes on the main board
- HVAC system runs occasionally at the stroke of midnight after the second full moon following the second Sunday of the month
- Your gas furnace cannot produce any heat at all
