Filters for your Carrier 58MSA040 come in many types and sizes, which all depends on your personal choice for how clean you want the air and air handler size requirements. The size of the filter is not a choice you make due to the constraint of the availability of room of your air handler. It is highly recommended that the filter is exchanged for a new one every 3 months because the filter can get clogged and may result in poor air flow inside the house.
