Carrier 58MSA12012120 Cooling Fan Motor
The fan motor on the compressor is responsible for keeping the compressor cool, because as the compressor gets hot the heat has got to be dissipated. The motor on the compressor fan can be replaced with or without the blade, this makes replacing it a lot easier to do and will reduce the costs you need to pay. Please make sure you buy a replacement motor with the same voltage and the correct amp listing as it is on the current motor.
Clues to watch for to know your fan motor is dying
- A disturbing crackling noise while the cooling fan is starting
- The main cooling motor smells burnt or shorts out when it is spinning
- The Carrier motor cannot turn at all
