The control board is designed to oversee everything including the gas valve, the igniter, most sensors and the blower all in one unit. It is impossible for your furnace or air handler to even run unless this board is correctly installed. It is of utmost importance upon choosing a board as a replacement due to so many small differences in models within certain brands. The brand of board you choose must have a matching part number consistent with both the brand and model of air handler system you have.
Signs of an inadequate primary control board
- The entire system ceases to do anything correctly
- Could be an a strange code appearing on the control board
- The power to the system needs to be reset all the time in order to run
