Your heating system cannot possible make any warmed air to efficiently heat, if the heating element is damaged. The heat element lets the air be heated prior to the blower having it circulated through the ducts.
Red flags the main heat element needs replacing
- Heating element can not get hot at all any longer
- There is a lack of heat produced by the system whatsoever
- The heat element looks bad, quite rusty and in rough shape
