Carrier 58MTB080F10112 Cooling Fan Motor
The fan motor has a specific duty of keeping the compressor cool, this is crucial due to the large amounts of heat that needs to be dispelled into the air. Be sure you buy a replacement motor with the same voltage and the same amps as it is on the current motor. It can be replaced sans the blade, this may make it a lot easier and it is something you can do yourself.
Key clues of an inadequate fan motor
- The motor starts to smoke or throws sparks when it begins to turn
- A weird rubbing or scraping sound when the cooling fan is beginning to turn
- The Carrier cooling motor fails to spin the blade
