The defrost sensor control board determines when or if to start the defrost sequence if necessary, to keep your outdoor unit from plugging up. The defrost board looks to a defrost sensor located near the condenser to make the decision on when to initiate the defrosting cycle.
Warnings the defrost sensor board has very little life left
- The defrost sequence refuses to run even when there is a large quantity of frost in the way
- Air conditioning may not run because of lack of airflow through the outdoor unit
- The main circuit board might issue an alphanumeric error code if the defrost board fails
