Carrier 58MTB080F10116 Cooling Fan Motor
The fan motor on the compressor is primarily in charge of keeping the compressor cool, when heat is removed from the house, that heat must be dispersed in order to keep things cool. The unit may be replaced without needing to replace the fan blade, this can make the installation go smoother and cheaper for you. It is important that the replacement motor has the similar voltage and the same amps as it is on the bad motor.
Red flags your fan motor is dying
- The compressor cooling motor begins to smoke or throws sparks as it spins
- The Carrier motor tries but fails to turn the blade
- You hear a rubbing or scraping sound while the motor is beginning to turn
