The main filter may filter out dust and other fine particles from the furnace. The dimensions of the filter is not a choice you make because it is based on the declared size of your system. It is suggested that the filter is exchanged for a new one every 3 months because the filter can get clogged and may result in poor air flow through the ducts.
Indications to watch for in a bad air filter
- It is recommended to replace your air filter four times a year to keep the unit running efficiently
- When you face it toward a light, the light cannot penetrate through a very dirty air filter
- The system filter looks gray or brown and should be replaced today
