A flame sensor is a safety feature that will consistently detect the flame during the initial ignition of the furnace. As with most safety features, if the sensor produces an error the system will halt for as long as the problem remains.
What are some hints that my flame sensor has a need to be replaced?
- The gas supplying the furnace will not even try to properly ignite and shuts itself off
- HVAC system turns on sporadically barely
