The defrost control board determines when or if to start the defrost cycle which actually helps to continue normal heating and cooling operations. The board looks to a sensor that can be found near the condenser, in order to agree when to initiate the defrosting cycle.
Red flags the AC defrost sensor board should be replaced
- The defrost sequence never initiates despite that there is a large amount frost that makes the unit run like crap
- The primary control board may show an error of some type produced when the defrost control board fails to receive a signal
