Carrier 58MXA140F14120 Limit Switch
The limit switch has a sensor in the air handler that decides when the heated air is warm enough so that it may be pushed through the ducts and out the vents. The reason limit switches exist is due to the fact that if the air never warms up inside the exchanger the you will lose heat in the ducts and the vents will just blow cool air.
Major symptoms to watch for in a bad limit switch
- The system starts to runs uneven occasionally
- Your Carrier system is unable to start or run well even though the desired temperature has not been attained
