The reason limit switches exist is because if the air is too cool inside the furnace to begin with, the you will lose heat in the ducts and the vents will just blow cool air. The limit switch contains a sensor located in the furnace that makes the determination if and when the air is warm enough for the blower to be activated.
Signs limit switch will need to be replaced
- The system is starting to shut down unexpectedly on a regular basis
- The heating and cooling system refuses to start or continue to run for any significant length if time
