The defrost control board controls if and when to commence the defrosting phase in order to continue normal heating and cooling operations. The defrost board depends on a specific sensor that can be found near the condenser, in order to ascertain when to begin.
Some warnings of a bad defrost sensor board
- Unit defrost session does not begin even though there is a large amount of frost on the outdoor unit
- The control board could throw an error code produced by a bad defrost control board
- The system will not operate due in part to the safety issue that the frost poses
