Carrier 58PAV Flame Sensor
The flame sensor is a regulatory sensor that senses the correct flame during the initial ignition of the furnace. As you would probably could have guessed, if the flame sensor senses a problem the whole HVAC system will remain stopped until the problem is remedied and the system is reset.
Signs to watch for in a bad Carrier flame sensor
- Your furnace will not ramp up when the control board tells it to
- The furnace will sometimes work intermittently only after the second full moon of the month on a Tuesday
- LP or natural gas has difficulty trying to properly ignite and some type of error flashes on the main board
