Carrier 58RAV Flame Sensor
A flame sensor can only be found on furnaces that burn a gas. It is a safety sensor that can reliably detect the proper flame during ignition. As with any other safety sensor, if the flame sensor senses a problem the entire HVAC system will stop until the problem is fixed.
What warnings should I watch out for to know if my safety flame sensor has a need to be replaced?
- The type of gas you use finds it impossible to properly ignite no matter what
- The heating system turns on on certain occasions but only on the third Wednesday of on months beginning on Thursday
- The heating system is unwilling to start operating and shuts down
