The flame sensor is one that can sense the appropriate flame upon ignition. As with any other safety sensor, if the sensor produces an error the furnace will not start until the problem is repaired.
What are the clues to watch out for to know my primary flame sensor really needs to be replaced?
- HVAC system will operate rarely at midnight, but only after the new moon following the fourth Monday of the month
- The heating system will not supply heat whatsoever
- The gas supplying the furnace has a tough time trying to properly ignite and shut down
