The limit switch is a switch in the heat exchanger that decides if and when the air is warmed to a point so that it may be pushed through the ducts and out the vents. The main reason limit switches are made is due to the fact that if the air never warms up inside the exchanger the you will lose all the heat as the air flows through the ducts.
