The defrost sensor board is jobbed with determining when to begin an important defrosting cycle which actually helps to get rid of the frost that collects on the outdoor unit. The defrost sensor board is influenced by a sensor located somewhere by the condenser to decide when to begin.
What warnings are present when my defrost sensor board is in need of a replacement?
- Defrost mode will not kick in especially when there is a rather large amount of frost on the unit
- Your HVAC system will not run due in part to frost blocking the fins on the outside unit
- The control board could throw an error of some type produced by too much frost
