The flame sensor is one of the safety features that will reliable sense the precise flame during ignition. As with other safety devices, if the sensor goes off the system remains completely shut down for as long as it takes to remedy the problem.
Clues to watch for to know your flame sensor will need to be replaced
- Your gas furnace is unwilling to work and shuts down
- HVAC system will sometimes work occasionally but only on the third Wednesday of on months beginning on Thursday
- The gas that has entered the furnace has a tough time trying to burn and some type of error flashes on the main board
